Practice what you preach
Saturday, February 24th, 2007In the past I have talked about strategies to increase the visibility of a website in search engine results. As many of you may have noticed, I did not actually employ any of those lessons for my own site - www.crystalbaymedia.com. The reason for this omission on my part was simple. My client base is driven by referal not website traffic. I actually gain more use from my website as a means to quickly deliver large files to a client.
I finally had a few spare moments and decided it was time to practice what I preach. What a difference!!! Within one month of deploying the new site:
* 150% increase in traffic
* a search of my company name in Google now returns my site at the number one search result (it was previously in the 50 - 60 range)
* visitors to my site now stay 300% longer than before
So, the question is: Glen what did you do? The answer is simple; I deleted everything and replaced my website with a popular (free) blog package called Wordpress (www.wordpress.org). For those of you that are regular readers I briefly outlined the blog concept in the September 2006 newsletter.
Starting this month, I will be posting all tips on my new site, where I encourage you to comment on my latest rambling.
