As many of you may have noticed, I did not actually employ any of those lessons for my own site - www.crystalbaymedia.com. The reason for this omission on my part was simple. My client base is driven by referal not website traffic. I actually gain more use from my website as a means to quickly deliver large files to a client.

I finally had a few spare moments and decided it was time to practice what I preach. What a difference!!! Within one month of deploying the new site:

* 150% increase in traffic
* a search of my company name in Google now returns my site at the number one search result (it was previously in the 50 - 60 range)
* visitors to my site now stay 300% longer than before

So, the question is: Glen what did you do? The answer is simple; I deleted everything and replaced my website with a popular (free) blog package called Wordpress (www.wordpress.org). For those of you that are regular readers I briefly outlined the blog concept in the September 2006 newsletter.

Starting this month, I will be posting all tips on my new site, where I encourage you to comment on my latest rambling.

Is MP3 Dead? http://www.crystalbaymedia.com/2007/02/24/is-mp3-dead/ http://www.crystalbaymedia.com/2007/02/24/is-mp3-dead/#comments Sun, 25 Feb 2007 05:10:58 +0000 admin http://www.crystalbaymedia.com/2007/02/24/is-mp3-dead/ On Feb 22 a federal jury in San Diego found Alcatel-Lucent to be the rightful holder of the MP3 patent and order the defendant in the case, Microsoft, to pay damages of $1.52 billion for lost royalties.

Microsoft is appealing the decision, but of more immediate concern is what does this mean for MP3 as the standard audio format? With this landmark verdict many companies will be looking at MP3 as a risk, one that is not worth it.

Perhaps Apple’s advocacy of the AAC format will finally take hold beyond the iTunes store and iPod.

Only time will tell.
